The following are my recommended EMF books.
The Body Electric (1985)
Robert O. Becker is a pioneer in the field of regeneration and its relationship to electrical currents in living things. His discoveries challenge the established mechanistic understanding of the body.
The Body Electric tells the fascinating story of our bioelectric selves. It shows through research how electricity is involved in regeneration, healing, and growth.
Cross Currents (1990)
Subtitled The Promise of Electromedicine, the Perils of Electro-Pollution, it expanded on the environmental and health consequences of the modern electromagnetic world.
Lots of salamander research in this book. Dr Becker explores the scientific concept of de-differentiation. A salamander will regrow its own tail if you cut it off. The limb stump’s cells revert to a more primitive form (similar to embryonic stem cells), then re-differentiate into bone, muscle, nerves, and skin. Dr. Becker investigated whether similar processes could be “reawakened” in humans.
The Microwave Debate (1984)
Nicholas Steneck. This 1984 book details how much was known about the biological effects of RF back in the 1980’s and predicts our exponential rise in consumer wireless technologies today.
Overpowered: The Dangers of Electromagnetic Radiation (EMF) and What You Can Do about It (2025)
Overpowered brings readers, in accessible and fascinating prose, through the science, indicating biological effects resulting from low, non-thermal levels of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation (levels considered safe by regulatory agencies), coming not only from cell phones, but many other devices we use in our homes and offices every day.
Dr Martin Blank was a long-time faculty at the Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics at Columbia University, New York, he was a principled, respected in-fighter in professional circles. He established that living DNA can act as a fractal antenna, with very low-intensity nonionizing radiation — endemic to all wireless technology and powerline transmission — capable of producing heat shock proteins and cellular stress, resulting in cascading negative effects throughout the biome across species. He passed in 2018.
The Invisible Rainbow: A History of Electricity and Life
Scientist and journalist Arthur Firstenberg traces the history of electricity from the early 18th century to the present, making a compelling case that many environmental problems, as well as the major diseases of industrialized civilization—heart disease, diabetes, and cancer—are related to electrical pollution.
This book is dense with historical detail and scientific references. He tells the story from an environmental point of view, outlining the effects that this fundamental societal building block has had on our health and our planet.
Radiation Nation: Fallout of Modern Technology - Your Complete Guide to EMF Protection & Safety
The science behind EMF radiation and how it harms health is easy to read and to understand in this book. It breaks down radiation and explains how you can protect yourself: Create distance, reduce time, and shield yourself!
Dirty Electricity: Electrification and the Diseases of Civilization (2012)
When Thomas Edison began wiring New York City with a direct current electricity distribution system in the 1880s, he gave humankind the magic of electric light, heat, and power; in the process, though, he inadvertently opened a Pandoras Box of unimaginable illness and death.
Dirty Electricity tells the story of Dr. Samuel Milham, the scientist who first alerted the world about the frightening link between occupational exposure to electromagnetic fields and twentieth century diseases of civilization, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and suicide.
